Throwback Thursday!
“Manor crew on the Ball”
Check out this article from the Ilkeston Advertiser way back in 2012! How about this for a #TBT ?!
“A TOTAL of 55 racketball players from all over the country descended upon The Manor in Ilkeston on Saturday to take part in one of the eight national one-day events in the UK Racketball Series, the Manor event being sponsored by Sandicliffe.
Across the six categories, ranging from Beginner through to the elite ‘A’ grade, 11 players represented the Manor – Nigel Millington, Gary Swift, Neil Tatham, Ant Horsley, Pete Goodings, Curtis Tomlinson, Ian Jackson, Dave Hudson, Jamie Hissett, James Healey and John Noakes.
Notable performances came from Nigel Millington, winning the Over-50s, Pete Goodings reaching the final of the ‘A’ Grade, Curtis Tomlinson narrowly missing out on reaching the ‘A’ grade final and Jamie Hissett coming runner-up in the beginners, so a good day out for the Manor crew.
Everyone else played their hearts out from 9am right through until 7pm with all matches being the best of three games to 11 points. Some matches were over in the blink of an eye while other matches lasted well over 40 minutes with ages of players ranging from 16-60.

If anyone wants to come and try the sport of racketball for the first time, the Manor is open to anyone in the local area. Just call the reception team on 0115 930 5027 or ask to book in with coach John Robinson.”
