Ilkeston’s Manor Health and Racquets Club are welcoming in 2015 as winners of the Derbyshire
Premier Racquetball League 2013-14.

A 20-0 victory over LA Fitness saw the Manor 1 team clinch the title and win the league by just one point.

Following a strong start to the season, players faced tough competition from teams including Repton, Burton and David Lloyd, to finish with 15 wins and two losses.

The final game, held at the Manor Health and Racquets Club, saw outstanding performances from Curtis Tomlinson and Ant Horsley, both of them ended the season undefeated.

Ant said: “It was a great team effort. We are all really looking forwards to focusing on winning again next season.”

Highlights of the season included beating Duffield 1 by 20-1, and Burton 2 by 20-0.

These wins were closely followed by two losses due to injuries and players being away, but the team remained undefeated for their next 11 matches.

The squad was of a very high standard, which also included fine performances from Neil Tatham, James Healey, Paul Oldham, Steve Scott, Kieran Edmonds, Adam Corrigan, Paul Cook, Dave Hudson and Don Davis.

Neil Tatham said: “It’s been a tough season with a lot of ups and downs, but with the strength and depth of the squad we’ve been able to pull off a memorable win.”
